There comes a time in our life when we question who we are and what we are doing here. We may ask ourselves, what makes me, me? I manifest myself in this life playing multiple roles, such as son/daughter, parent, spouse, sibling, coworker, artist, entrepreneur, healthcare worker, etc., but none of these descriptions are enough to describe who I am, my essence. Because deep down we know we encompass much more than any one of these things or even a combination of them. We are particles of energy, as all things are in essence. But beyond that we have a consciousness, an ability to think, feel, analyze, and become aware. We have intelligence. As particles of energy that are part of a system that is believed to be expanding, we are eternal. We mirror the absolute intelligence of the creation, which some call God. Do we only have one lifetime and then it’s over? It is more probable that we have not been created for such a limited experience and our essence will continue beyond this lifetime.
We can consider that there is much more to our reality than is apparent. Perhaps our essence is much greater and more capable than we have ever conceived of. As expressions of the Creator, our essence must be more than just a body. And if this is the case, why do we choose to experience one?
It can be contemplated that God as the Creator of All That Is manifests in infinite forms, and the human body is just one of them. It is possible that within the confines of form, time and space, God desires its qualities of being all-knowing, all-powerful and all-loving to continue to be expressed through us. By discovering who we are and acting from our essence within this limited form we call our body, we can appreciate and validate the power and absoluteness of our divine origin. Every time we manifest divine qualities, we demonstrate the existence of God.
Our experiences within a body allow us to engage with a diversity of emotions that can ultimately guide us towards greater levels of patience, kindness, wisdom, and sovereignty, among other qualities, which are all forms of love. And if we accept love to be the expression of God, we can consider that our essence is a conscious loving energy, an expression of All That Is, which is here to experience itself as different facets of the whole of creation. By playing within physical form, we can rediscover our divinity, and in turn extend all that we are, to all that surrounds us.
Every morning, we have the ability to remind ourselves of who we truly are and what our purpose is, setting the stage for how we interact with the world around us. It will allow for greater clarity on our situations and surroundings that had previously been obscured. This journey will unfold uniquely for each one of us because of our individual perspectives, ability to make choices and the effects arising from them. But each journey will ultimately lead to the same destination.,
As we have been created in God’s likeness, we are extensions of this love. Therefore, focusing on oneself and revealing more of the love that we are will eventually lead us all to the bigger picture, an interconnectedness with all of creation. Feeling the wholeness within will allow an understanding and integration with all we consider external to us. As we understand ourselves more, we may come to realize that we are what we have been looking for the whole time. As aspects of the divine, we are the path to unity with God. Perhaps we will choose daily to consciously attune to our divine nature and allow ourselves to feel all that we were created to be and rediscover the sovereignty and power that comes with it.
